It was mid September 1980, that a motivated team headed by I.S. Khambati, a post graduate in nuclear physics, founded EQUIPTRONICS. The founder earlier worked as a staff member in University of Mumbai (Deptarment of Physics) and at the Western Regional Instrumentation Centre. It was there that the founder’s foundation of knowledge was laid. It was the first time in 1974 that modern instruments were introduced at graduate and undergraduate level. The founder’s job was to develop instruments and help college teachers to understand and make one prototype instrument for their colleges. In this connection the founder had to resource the know how from eminent scientist in BARC and TIFR. It was a great privilege to meet and be associated with such ICONIC personalities.
The founder was motivated by University staff member to start manufacturing such instruments so that deep rooted knowledge gained there by is utilized for benefit of the scientific community. This view point we keep in mind while designing & pricing. Initially it all started with small instruments like Power Supplies, pH meters, etc. Later on many instruments were added to the list, including Spectrophotometer, Flame Photometer, including the advanced versions of microprocessor based PC compatible instruments.
We are the pioneers in introducing the concept of Digital Instruments which was later on adapted by all the players in the field.
Our other contribution is in the Defense sector, where we have developed and supplied various import substitute electronic items for Indian Navy, thereby saving country’s precious foreign exchange. At least one or many items of EQUIPTRONICS have been fitted in each and every naval ships.

On 12th October 2010 our team’s hard work of 30 years was finally rewarded. Our technical expertise was finally recognized when EQUIPTRONICS was selected to be featured on national TV. Millions got a chance to view the real team behind the famous brand. A rare honour bestowed on a small company, bypassing giants in the field. This historic event will be cherished by our team all along their life.
